Laura Thorne cut her teeth organising events in London from the age 18. Since graduating in Events Management in 2006 Laura worked her way up and became a successful Senior Events Producer working for clients such as Coca-Cola, Nike, Heineken, Microsoft and Royal Ascot.
Love Lemon Tree was founded after the hugely successful Olympics in the summer of love in 2012, It was originally set up as creative events company after the Olympics. Everything was on the up and up, a future of excitement and potential was beckoning.
One day whilst working freelance for a large advertising agency in central London, she abruptly lost ability to speak during a conference call to a client. Leaving work Laura decided that she needed to go home for a rest, however things got serious pretty quickly and she became confused and delirious. Somehow managing to take the 106 bus (a number that will always be infamous to her) to Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel.
After admitting herself to Accident & Emergency at the Royal London the MRI results discovered she had a very large legion in her brain looking similar to Brain Cancer. The neurologists left with no other option than to operate and perform a large brain biopsy which left her with a hole in her head and 28 staples in her skull.
Multiple legions where discovered and a few months later she was later diagnosed with Aggressive Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis, and epilepsy as a result of her surgery. Whats MS? (Click Here)
Due to the fact it was such an usual presentation of the legions, later that year the neurologists actually wrote and published a medical paper about her unique MS case. Laura's life, career, family, friends and everything that she had worked so hard to achieve had been thrown into complete and utter turmoil. Laura had significant brain damage effecting her cognition and movement. Her ability to speak, read, write, love and laugh was hugely impaired and it was incredibly hard to make sense of the world.
She spent over two years undergoing intensive NHS rehabilitation learning to speak, read, write again. As part of her own personal healing Laura turned to Yoga which had always been a passion of hers. Yoga and meditation played a hugely important role in Laura’s recovery she learnt how to heal herself from the inside out.
A year after being admitted to Hospital Laura flew to India to do her teaching training course, and is now a fully qualified Hatha and Vinysa Flow instructor and a newly qualified children’s yoga teacher. Laura has recently started a yoga and wellbeing company called lovelemontree.com. It is now Laura’s passion and mission to share her experience and skills with others and to help others appreciate themselves, others and the beautiful world we inhabit. Despite her on-going health challenges she faces on a daily basis, she is still determined to continue being a successful entrepreneur on her new pathway.
